New York, NY – Today disgraced, soon-to-be ex-State Senator Pedro Espada publicly reappeared for one of the first times since losing his primary and issued his annual Majority Leader Report. In an accompanying statement, Espada laughably attempts to claim victories on reform issues as a result of his switching parties in the summer of 2009.

If Senator Espada were truly an advocate for reform, why hasn’t he filed any of the required financial disclosures since his loss in September, continuing his disgraceful pattern of flaunting ethic rules in Albany.

We demand that Espada return all the campaign contributions left in his committee or at the very least give them to a legitimate charity and that does not include Soundview Clinic, his mortgage in Westchester or a future legal defense fund for himself.

With this specious report and statement Espada continues to demonstrate that he has no respect for either his Bronx constituents or the regard for solving the problems of New Yorkers. His actions show why New York voters turned out in record low numbers during the midterm election and have little regard for Albany politics.
